The Claude Content System: 11 Steps to Write Faster in Your Own Voice
This Calude Content System guide has three phases:
- Phase 1 — Steps 1–5 are one-time setup. Do these before you start writing.
- Phase 2 — Steps 6–9 are your per-post workflow. Repeat for every piece of content.
- Phase 3 — Steps 10–11 are ongoing improvement. Return to these weekly or monthly.
After completing Steps 10–11, loop back and update your Style Guide (Step 3) and Prompt Library (Step 4) with what you’ve learned. The system improves itself over time.
Note: Memory, Projects, Extended Thinking, and Artifacts are Claude.ai features and are not available on all plans. Check your plan before starting.
Phase 1 — Claude One-Time Setup
Do these once. They become the foundation every post is built on.
1. Enable Memory
What it does
Claude remembers your brand voice across every conversation — not just within a single chat. Without this, you’re re-explaining your style every session.
How to use it
Settings → Personalisation → Enable Memory. Add your tone, target audience, and content goals in User Preferences.
Best practice
Update it whenever your style evolves. Old memory means outdated voice.
2. Create a Project
What it does
One place for briefs, brand docs, and reference posts so Claude always has full context — automatically, in every chat inside the project.
How to use it
Create a new Project in the sidebar. Upload your tone guide and top-performing posts. Every chat inside the Project shares that context without you having to re-upload anything.
Best practice
One project per content series. Keep it lean — too many files and Claude loses the thread.
3. Upload Your Style Guide
What it does
Gives Claude the reference it needs to write in your voice rather than a generic AI voice. This is about how you write.
How to use it
Save your style notes as a PDF or text file and upload it into your Project. Tell Claude to check it before every draft. Include examples of both writing you love and writing you want to avoid — Claude learns from contrast, not just instruction.
Best practice
The more specific the examples, the more accurately Claude matches your tone. Vague instructions (“be conversational”) produce vague results.
4. Build a Prompt Library
What it does
Saves reusable prompts for recurring tasks so you’re not rebuilding briefs from scratch each session. Different from your style guide — this is about what to ask, not how to write.
How to use it
Create a text file listing your go-to prompts by task: LinkedIn hooks, carousel scripts, newsletter intros, thread openers. Upload it to your Project. Reference prompts by name when briefing Claude (“use the hook prompt from my library”).
Best practice
Treat it as a living document. Add a new prompt every time something works well. Delete ones that consistently miss.
5. Enable Extended Thinking
What it does
Claude processes more carefully before responding — better hooks, stronger strategy, more nuanced output. Worth it for complex work; unnecessary overhead for simple tasks.
How to use it
Click Search and Tools below the chat input and toggle on Extended Thinking. Available on Pro and Max plans only.
Best practice
Use for strategy, hook development, and brief analysis. Skip for simple captions or quick edits.
Phase 2 — Per-Post Workflow
Repeat steps 6–9 for every piece of content you create.
6. Use the RTCO Structure
What it does
Gives Claude a complete, unambiguous brief so it generates strong output on the first attempt. RTCO stands for Role, Task, Context, Output.
How to use it
Write your brief as a single prompt combining all four elements. Example:
“You are an expert LinkedIn content strategist who specialises in B2B SaaS. Write 5 hook options for a post about reducing customer churn. My audience is VP-level operators at companies with 50–500 employees who are frustrated by poor onboarding. Give me 3 options and then tell me which is strongest and why.”
Role = who Claude is. Task = what to produce. Context = your audience, platform, goal. Output = format and quantity of the response.
Best practice
The more specific each element, the stronger the output. A vague brief produces vague content.
7. Critique Before You Write
What it does
Claude identifies weak angles, unclear framing, or missing audience insight before you waste time on a draft that misses the mark.
How to use it
Share your brief and ask: “Before you write anything, find any weak angles or vague framing in this brief.” Fix what Claude flags. Then ask for the draft.
Best practice
Fix the brief first. Then write. Order always matters.
8. Draft with Artifacts
What it does
Claude produces clean, formatted output you can copy and use immediately — no reformatting needed.
How to use it
Ask Claude to output the draft as an Artifact. Use for carousels, posts, checklists, and thread scripts. Copy directly into your scheduling tool or document.
Best practice
Batch similar content in one session — one prompt can produce multiple ready-to-use outputs simultaneously.
9. Review and Fact-Check Before You Post
What it does
A final check covering hook strength, value delivery, CTA clarity, and factual accuracy before anything goes live. Quality review and accuracy verification in one step.
How to use it
Save this as a standing prompt in your Project and run every post through it:
- Score the hook — does it earn the read?
- Score the value — does it deliver on the hook’s promise?
- Score the CTA — is it clear and earned?
- Flag every factual claim and rate confidence (high / uncertain / unverified)
Independently verify any claim Claude marks as uncertain before publishing.
Best practice
Hook weak? Fix it. Value off? Rewrite it. CTA missing? Add one. Never publish unverified statistics — Claude can hallucinate confidently.
Phase 3 — Claude Ongoing System Improvement
Return to these weekly or monthly. Then loop back and update Steps 3 and 4 with what you’ve learned.
10. Repurpose Your Best Posts
What it does
Turns one strong post into multiple formats without losing the core idea or starting over.
How to use it
Give Claude your top-performing post and ask for 3 format variations: carousel, short-form text, and story. Ask it to identify the audience pain point that made the original work, and carry that into each version.
Best practice
Same idea, different format. Don’t let Claude drift from the original point — the insight is what performed, not the format.
11. Run a Friction Check
What it does
Captures what Claude noticed about your feedback patterns so your style guide and prompt library get smarter over time. Each session teaches the system something new.
How to use it
At the end of each session ask: “What patterns did you notice in my feedback today? What should I add to my style guide or prompt library?” Review the suggestions and save strong ones back into those documents (Steps 3 and 4).
Best practice
One update per week is enough. Small, consistent improvements compound into a system that requires less correction over time.
The loop: after Step 11, return to Steps 3 and 4 with your updates. The system improves itself.
